feeling compassionate?

You're in the right place.

Empathings Blog is all about sharing our

thoughts and ideas with those around us.

Creativity fuels everything! Artsy or not, there is beauty, meaning, and empathy to be had.

My blog examines small and wide corners of artistic brilliance, eager to shed light on them.

Intrigued by the idea of an empathetic universe?

Wish the world carried their hearts on their sleeves instead of locked away in a rib cage?

Me too. So let's talk about it!

Running the Race

The second month of 2020 is closing in. New Year’s resolutions have either kept up or dropped off. Most people I’ve heard from lately have expressed disorganization, spastic energy, or overwhelm. Personally, I’m feeling all of those things. I’m juggling some decisions that feel pretty scary. When we have a desire to move forward but are scared to take a leap, we get stuck.

Our brain becomes mushy in its efforts to convince ourselves that we don’t even want that thing anymore.

We look for other opportunities that we don’t even want because it’ll be easier.

Our greatest hope becomes our worst nightmare because our ego is defending itself and resists.

Sound familiar?

Today I felt called to remind you about the beauty of transition. If we face that unwanted reality head on and push through it, we don’t just cross the finish line and get the results we wanted. We have to run the race first. If a decision requires a huge leap of faith, you may fall for a while until you find your footing. We expect everything to happen so quickly. I know I’m guilty of being impatient.

It can be super discouraging when we work really hard for something or take that leap and then things don’t move as quickly as we’d like. But slow movement is still movement. If you are manifesting greater things, the universe will have to do some rearranging in order to make that happen. Transitions take time.

To deal with that in the meantime, remember what the goal is. Are you a musician trying to make a living? A baker trying to open your own shop? A student trying to complete a program? Remind yourself why you started the race and feel the excitement of crossing that finish line - even if you don’t know what that will look like yet. Feel it. Let your blood pulse to the tempo of the things that you want.

Things must end in order for better things to replace them. If you’re starting a new journey, keep your purpose close at hand. If you are reaching a checkpoint, don’t give up. You have the strength you need to keep pushing through.
